Singleton Mills homepage > The Kurrajong Watermills
The first two flour mills established by the Singleton family were about 2k north of Kurrajong in New South Wales.
These were both watermills built on Little Wheeny Creek which had an unusually abundant and reliable flow of water.
It is thought that the first mill to be built on Little Wheeny Creek was the Upper Mill.
It was located on portion 122 in the Parish of Kurrajong (shown on the map below in green). It was called the Upper Mill because it was further upstream along Little Wheeny Creek than the other mill.
The second mill was known as the Lower Mill.
It was located on portion 112 in the Parish of Kurrajong (shown on the map below in purple). It was called the Lower Mill because it was further downstream along Little Wheeny Creek.

The Upper Mill and the Lower Mill were sister mills, as the water used by the Upper Mill returned to Little Wheeny Creek, then was used again by the Lower Mill, as shown in the diagram below.
